Client feedback on websites

Get client feedback on a website, without installing anything

The simplest way to get client feedback on a website is to send a link where the client can click the page and comment on the exact element. With Symu 2 you paste the site’s URL, share the link, and the client needs no account, no browser extension and no script on the website.

Why client feedback on websites goes wrong

Client feedback goes wrong when it is detached from the page: a screenshot in one email, a phone call about “the blue thing” in another. Collecting comments on the live page, with the element and screen size recorded automatically, removes most of the back-and-forth.

Typical symptoms: the same issue reported three times in three channels, comments that nobody can locate, and “it looks fine on my screen” because the client was on a phone. A single review link fixes the first two, and a device switcher with recorded breakpoints fixes the third.

The process with Symu 2

  1. Paste the website URL into a new project. Nothing is installed on the site and you do not need access to the client’s CMS or hosting.
  2. Send the share link. The client opens it in any browser, enters a name and sees the site, with a switcher for desktop, tablet and mobile.
  3. The client clicks and comments. Each comment is pinned to the element, with the page URL and breakpoint attached.
  4. You get tasks. Comments land in your project with statuses, a workflow board and email notifications, so nothing hides in an inbox.
  5. Fix, reply, resolve. Do the work yourself, or let an AI coding agent read the comments over MCP and propose the fix. Reply on the comment so the client sees what changed.

Script, extension or URL: which approach?

ApproachWhat the client doesWhat you needBest when
Script on the siteOpens the site, comments in a widgetAccess to add a script to the siteYou control the site and want feedback on production
Browser extensionInstalls the extension firstTechnical clientsQA by a small team
URL-based (Symu 2)Opens a link and commentsA publicly reachable URLStaging or production review with non-technical clients

URL-based review has limits: pages behind a login are not supported and some sites with strict bot protection may not load. For the full picture read how to collect client feedback without installing a script.

Tips for better client feedback

  • Send a short brief with the link. Say what you want checked (layout, copy, mobile) and by when.
  • Ask for one change per comment. It keeps tasks small and easy to resolve.
  • Review on mobile too. Ask clients to switch the preview to the mobile view before signing off.
  • Close the round. Resolve every comment with a reply and send the same link for a final check.

Working with designs as well as live sites? Symu 2 still takes image, PDF and Photoshop uploads, so one tool covers the whole project. Pricing is a flat $19/month with a 14-day free trial (details).

How do I get client feedback on a website?

Put the site in a tool that lets the client comment on the page itself. In Symu 2 you paste the URL, copy the share link and send it. The client clicks any element, types a comment and it appears in your project as a task with the page, element and screen size attached.

Does my client need to create an account?

No. A client who opens your share link types a name and starts commenting. You decide who can see which project through separate share links.

Do I have to add a script to the client’s website?

No. Symu 2 loads the site through a server-side proxy and adds the commenting layer there. Nothing is installed on the client’s site, which also means no access to their CMS or hosting is needed.

Can clients check how the site looks on mobile?

Yes. The preview has a desktop, tablet and mobile switcher, and each comment records the breakpoint it was left on, so you know whether an issue is mobile-only.

What if a website will not load in the proxy?

Some sites block being displayed inside another page or use strict bot protection, and pages behind a login are not supported. In that case ask for a public staging URL, or upload a screenshot or PDF of the page and collect comments on that instead.

How do I turn client comments into work?

Every comment becomes a task you can assign a status to, move across the workflow board and resolve. You get email notifications, and you can copy a comment as an AI prompt or hand all open comments to your AI coding agent through MCP.
